Health Care
South Africa offers first class private healthcare
Private clinics and practices in South Africa offer first-class treatment and care. In fact, did you know that the world’s first heart transplant was performed in Cape Town by South African Dr. Chris Barnard, and that the Yellow Fever vaccine was developed in the country too?
In addition, major Private Hospitals in the country are affiliated to, or have agreements with major international medical aids.
Local medical aids such as Discovery Health or Netcare, are competent and have agreements with hospitals, clinics and most medical practices, making life easier during times of medical crises.
With no social or state-funded healthcare system effectively in place, it is important that you investigate medical insurance coverage, or medical aid as it is known in South Africa; your international medical aid provider should be able to provide you with all relevant information.
